Apsara Reddy

I spent my whole evening trying to come up with an amazing way to start this blog. That is Apsara Reddy for you. A powerhouse that makes you think. Apsara has single handily taken on powerful speakers on national television, hosted TV shows, written about consumerism, politics, celebrities and education. The first word that comes to my mind when I hear Apsara’s name is “power”. She has fought for the LGBT community, fought for justice in many cases and is not afraid to speak her mind. She has put across her message in every article she’s ever written, every interview she’s ever done and has left a mark in the world of politics and journalism.

Apsara has become the voice of many women. When I first saw the trailer for her show Vannamae Ellai on Jaya TV, I Had chills. To host a show that is based on empowering women you need to have certain qualities that Apsara has and excels in. She truly cares about the women she speaks about and fights for. Apsara can host any show she wants to, She can write about any topic she wants to. But the fact that she hosts such a powerful show that is helping women and is educating the public says a lot about who she is. She takes her role as a public figure very seriously. My respect for her has always been sky high and this proves why. I have known Apsara for many years and we have spent a lot of time together when I was a teenager. Apsara is a powerful speaker, a well-known journalist, she is also very glamorous. The way she carries herself, whether she is wearing a simple cotton saree or a glamorous cocktail dress. She looks amazing! Her confidence shines through.

She loves spending times with her pets, she loves to cook, she loves going on long vacations just like all of us do. So I spoke to her and asked her a few makeup and beauty related questions. 1. Politics or television? Both. Why choose one when you can have both! Television enables popularity, politics helps perspective.

2. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Definitely in political life and public service. Doing it on my own terms and being the woman I am.

3. What are your Sunday’s like? Family, cooking, swimming or chuck all of it and do movie marathon with friends. 4. Your Favourite tv show 2 broke girls, Graham Norton Show, CSI Miami, Scandal

5. What is your go-to makeup look? YSL concealer, Benefit Mascara, Lip Tar in bubblegum pink

6. Three things you always carry with you in your handbag? I never carry a handbag. My car or staff have all that I need handy. Even during social events or nightouts there's always a staff member who accompanies me. Water, lipstick and chocolates are handy. Chocolates for kids and well wishers who come up to me. 7. Your favourite lipstick shade Givenchy - Rouge

8. Who is your favourite politician? Jayalalithaa 9. Who inspires you? My inspirations come from situations and it's never one person. I'm inspired by art galleries, creative endeavours, design geniuses and autobiographies sometimes have shaped my ideas. 10. Your advice to anyone who wants to pursue a career in politics Be brave. There are too many people lurking around to pull you down. They are often the ones you least expect. Be true to the people who look upto you and need you. The opinions of the elite don’t matter too much when it comes to shaping public policy.

A note to Apsara Apsu, you are my role model. It takes a lot to have achieved what you have. Thank you for always believing in me. Your kindness towards me and my family will never be forgotten. Always here to support you. - Pavi
