If you are new to the makeup scene and want to know how to build your makeup kit, it can get very confusing. The world of makeup can get very intimidating. With a million makeup and skin care products out there you might not know where to start.
I first started off by watching a ton of Youtube videos and started my kit off from there. The problem with buying what other people recommend is that what works for them might not work for you. Everyone has different skin. I wasted a lot of money by buying stuff before trying them. At the end of the day, Makeup and skin care products are huge investments and cost a lot of money. Here are a few things you can do before you invest in a product- - Figure out your skin type - Read the ingredients in your skin care products, you will be surprised by what you find on there
- Try samples of products before purchasing them
- If you breakout often, check to see if you might be allergic to certain ingredients that are often added to skin care products - Buy makeup products according to your makeup preferences. Some people like a matte look, while some like to look dewy - Don’t buy something just because you like the way it looks in an advert. Trust me, I have accumulated a lot of junk that I never use over the years by doing that - Keep it simple. Throw out or give away products that you think you will never use
I am going to suggest two products for you to buy from each category. One drug store product and one high end product if you feel like splurging a little.
I have oily skin and prefer a matte finish. So these products work really well for me. Moisturizer and Primer
Great makeup begins with great skincare. Prep your skin with a tandem slathering of moisturizer and primer. The duo will ensure a flawless base that keeps makeup in place all day.

Beginners can eliminate the risk of caked-on foundation by adding an opaque concealer to their kit. Maybelline age rewind’s creaseless formula camouflages imperfections, allowing you to use less foundation. When paired with The Dior forever foundation no one will be able to tell where your skin ends and the makeup begins.

A setting powder after applying concealer and foundation is so important. Liquid products need to be set so they don’t move around.

Among the most important features on your face: the eyebrows. Use the dual-sided Anastasia Beverly Hills tool to brush and sculpt perfect arches. The brand’s Dipbrow Pomade is also a beginner favorite as it’s easy to apply and smudge proof.

5.Eyeliner and Mascara
There’s really no need to fiddle around with applying false lashes. The better than sex mascara is unreal and will give you the illusion of falsies.

No kit is complete without go-to lip colors. These two hues are universally flattering and versatile enough to keep you covered from the office to the dance floor.

Brushes and tools In order to put apply your makeup properly you’ll need to use the right tools. The Beautyblender is perfect for effortlessly blending foundations, blush, and concealer. The brushes that I use are brushes that I have collected over the years. Brushes are very expensive. I only buy a brush if I feel like I am lacking a piece in my kit. This step will take the most time.

Add healthy color and a subtle glow to your skin with a classic blush and highlighter. Nars and Becca have both created cult favorites that are must-haves for every kit.

Now to my Favourite part. Bronzing. A good bronzer in your makeup kit is a must. It gives your face shape and adds structure.

A setting spray will help set your makeup. By using a setting spray your makeup will look blended and wont look powdery and will also help make your makeup last longer.
